I was poking around goo-net this evening, and found two Legacy 3.6Rs listed ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). This is kind of unusual, since the Legacy 3.6R was never intended for sale in Japan (as far as I know).
Both are left hand drive models, with US customary instrumentation. Dissecting the VINs reveals that both are 2010 models, and both were built at SIA in Indiana. At first, I was suspicious that they were imported to Japan by Subaru themselves, given that both cars are located in Gunma. However, now I'm not so sure...
The first thing that has me questioning that idea is the front plate on the lead image. That's a dealer plate from Irvine Subaru, located in Lake Forest, California. The second Legacy has the same plate, it's just covered up. That means these two Legacys went through US dealer hands first.
The second thing that has me questioning that idea is the Regatta Red Baja in the above picture. The Baja was also never intended to be sold in Japan. It was only sold in the United States, Canada, and Chile (as far as I know). That alone is making me think that this unidentified dealer in Japan is importing non-Japanese market Subarus for sale in Japan. If that is the case, then that is pretty cool.

This is very common to do that actually in Japan as car imports laws are nowhere as annoying as they are in the US... So absolutly anything is being imported from all around the world. It's fair to say you can find pretty much any car here :)
Where are you in Japan?

I didn't realize that importing vehicles into Japan was fairly common. I'm actually in the US, Pennsylvania to be more exact. I just enjoy looking to see what all is out there, anticipating when some stuff starts to pass 25 years of age.
